- Hi Peter,
-
- I was running almost the same setup, 1230/50, 10MB and maxtor 1.6Gig with the
- power supply that came with the 1200 (although the part number on the
- supply indicates DSP- A500). In fact, it had enough power to supply two hard
- drives, 345 meg and 1.6 meg, while I transferred files from the old drive to
- the new.
-
- The only problem I had was when the drive was spinning up to speed, and I
- forced a re-boot, the supply could not supply enough current for everything
- going on at that moment. This only happened while the drive was spinning up
- to speed. The drive did not like this loss of power and it created a problem
- on one of my partitions. I had to re-format that. Since that happeded, I
- purchased a Bigfoot supply for about $80. No problems since then.
-
- Hope this helps,
-
